Creating and Managing Your Punch List
Add punch items, set permissions, drop stamps on drawings, and export your list to PDF.
Overview
The Punch List module modernizes the Punch Item experience to match RFI/Submittal workflows, adds granular permissions, streamlines mobile use, and improves navigation, editing, and visibility. This allows for seamless collaboration and organization, ensuring that all punch items are clearly documented, assigned, and tracked, driving successful project completion.
Process
1. Adding a New Punch Item
-
Within a project, navigate to the Punch List module.
-
Click + Add New Punch Item.
-
In the slide-out modal, enter the punch item's details, including the description, due date, custom stamps, Responsible contractor, Ball-in-Court, Members, and any other relevant fields.
2. Punch Item Permissions
Only the punch item's creator and members can edit it (including changing Ball in Court). This access extends to their workspaces, so anyone in the same workspace as the creator or a member can also edit.
Assigning a contractor? Their access depends on the role:
-
Member → can edit the punch item and Ball in Court.
-
Responsible contractor only → can't edit, but can Provide Solution and respond with Ball in Court.
Admins follow the same rules — they can edit only within the creator/member workspace. Admin access alone doesn't grant editing rights.
Everyone else (including subcontractors with no one from their workspace as a member) gets view-only access, with the option to Provide Solution.
3. Stamps and Referencing Drawings
-
From the punch creation screen, locate the Stamp field and click the plus icon.
-
Click Add New Stamp.
-
Enter a 1–2 digit stamp initial, a stamp title, and select a color, then save the stamp.
-
Once a stamp is selected or created, click "Select Sheet" to place it directly on a drawing sheet. This opens the Drawings module.
-
Click on the location on the sheet where you want to drop the stamp, then click "Save."
-
The stamp now appears on that drawing sheet for the whole project directory to see, and links back to the punch item it came from.
-
Click "Create" to finish adding the punch item.
4. List View
-
Open the List View for Punch Lists to see punch items organized in sortable columns.
-
Click any column header to sort by that field.
-
Use the filter options to narrow down and locate a specific punch item.
5. Exporting a Punch List
-
Click "Export."
-
Choose either "Export Detail Report" or "Export Summary Report."
-
The PDF downloads to your local PC. Your company logo (loaded by your workspace Admin in company settings) will appear on the sheet.
6. What's Included in the PDF
The exported PDF includes the following for each punch item:
-
Punch Item Title
-
Date Created
-
Due Date
-
Ball in Court
-
Reported By
-
Job Site Locations
-
Any referenced Drawings
