Import a Schedule

How to import a Project Schedule from Microsoft Project, Primavera, or an Ingenious-formatted Excel file.

Overview

Schedules can be imported into INGENIOUS.BUILD as a new schedule or into an existing one. Multiple imported files can also be combined into a single schedule.

Prerequisites

  • When a project is created, the system automatically generates a Project Schedule. You can import into this existing schedule or create a new one using the steps below.

Process

Import as a new schedule

  1. Navigate to the Schedule module.

  2. Click Create New Schedule in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Import Schedule, then drag and drop the file into the upload area.

  4. Toggle Autolink Analytical Milestones to auto-set them as the first and last milestones in the imported schedule.

  5. Click Import.

Supported file formats

  • Microsoft Project

  • Primavera

  • Excel files formatted with the Ingenious template

Note: The platform supports importing up to 30 MB of data. To import more, contact INGENIOUS.BUILD Support using the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of the platform.

Fields populated on import

If the file is formatted properly, the following fields populate in the schedule:

  • Activity ID

  • Helper Column

  • Activity Name

  • Parent Activity ID

  • Project Commencement Date (Anticipated)

  • Project Completion Date (Anticipated)

  • Duration

  • Working Days (Estimate)

  • Progress

  • Category

Import into an existing schedule

To import into an existing schedule (such as the system-generated Project Schedule):

  1. Open the schedule and click Edit.

  2. Click the ellipsis at the top right and select Import Schedule.

  3. Follow the upload steps above.

Loading from a template

Beyond the three supported import formats, you can also select Add Schedule Template to apply a predefined template set up by your Administrator.
