Mobile Offline Mode
This article covers how to download modules for offline use, understand download statuses, navigate offline mode indications, and sync changes once back online.
Overview
Offline Mode for mobile devices lets you continue working without an internet connection, ensuring nothing slows you down. Your updates will automatically sync once you're back online, starting with Inspections and rolling out to more modules soon!
Prerequisites
-
To use a specific module offline, it must be downloaded first.
-
On Android, the first time you initiate a download, you must grant system notification permission if it’s not granted yet. It allows android download and sync items in background. Without this permission, offline mode will not function properly.
Process
Steps to Download a Module:
-
Open the required module that supports offline mode within the project.
-
Tap the download icon located in the top-right corner.
This icon sits in the top-right corner of the module's screen; tapping it begins downloading that module's content for offline use.
Module Download Status
The download icon indicates different states:
-
Download available – Grey icon
-
Downloading – In this state, the user can cancel the download
-
Download successful – Green icon
-
Error state – If an issue occurs, tapping the icon will display an error message with a retry option
-
No icon displayed – The module does not support Offline Mode
The same download icon simply changes appearance to reflect each of these states — grey when available, a progress indicator with a cancel option while downloading, and green once complete — with a tap-to-retry option if an error occurs.
Offline Mode Indication
When the user goes offline, the app displays a message indicating offline status.
-
On the Project Summary screen, only previously downloaded modules that support Offline Mode will be visible.
-
When opening a downloaded module, the app displays a message with the last successful download timestamp.
-
On the Project Listing screen, only projects containing downloaded modules will be shown.
-
Once the user is back online, all changes will sync.
-
The listing page displays the synchronization status for each item.
-
If an error occurs during synchronization, a Sync Again option appears, allowing users to restart the process
-
