Updating the Schedule

Modify dates, manage task progress, or update activity connections on the Schedule module!

Overview

INGENIOUS.BUILD simplifies the management and tracking of construction activities, offering powerful tools that allow users to efficiently update, monitor, and adjust key activity parameters throughout the project lifecycle.

Process

Updating the Schedule

In the General Information tab we can update these activity fields:

  1. Name: Update the activity name.

  2. Anticipated Stats & Ends Dates: Edit the dates that you anticipate the project will start and end.

  3. Category: Assign a construction category to an activity.

  4. Duration: Edit the activity duration.

  5. Progress: Modify the advancement of an activity by adjusting its percentage.

  6. Actual Start & End Dates: Edit the date the activity or milestone actually started and/or ended.

  7. Baseline Start & End Dates: Edit the date you are committing to start and/or end the activity or milestone.

  8. Responsible Party: Assign a responsible party to an activity.

  9. Type: Activities or Milestones

  10. Tasks: Create a task for an activity 

  11. Risks: Create a risk for an activity

Gantt View Updating

  • You can click on any gantt chart items to open their edit options

  • Adjust an activity's duration by hovering over the edge of the bar (Activity) and dragging it left or right.

  • Change a start date by dragging the entire bar (Activity) or diamond (Milestone) to the desired date, connected tasks will move accordingly based on dependencies and durations.

  • Link activities or milestones by hovering over the edge of a bar or diamond, clicking the dot icon, and dragging it to another task’s dot.

  • To modify a dependency, click the connection line and update the relationship type or lead/lag.

Quick Actions:

Click on any shape in the gantt chart to choose a quick action.

  • Edit - Opens the full edit menu for that activity

  • Color - Allows you to edit the color of that gantt chart item

Updating Connected Activities

Update the activity relationship with predecessors and successors in the Edit page by clicking into the Activity or Milestone and then the Connections tab. 

Update Progress

Edit Activity Details 

  1. Click on the activity.
  2. Find the Progress section on the Edit page. 
  3. Manually type in the progress 

Update on Gantt Chart 

  1. Locate the activity on the gantt schedule 

  2. Hover over the activity bar until you see a small arrows icon over the bar 
  3. Drag back and forth to adjust the progress.
Activities

Activities are identified in the Table view by a Lighting bolt Icon and the Gantt view by a Bar.

  • You can change a milestone to an activity by changing its Type selection to Activity.

Milestones

Milestone are identified in the Table view by a Flag Icon and the Gantt view by a Diamond.

  • You can set a milestone by setting the Working days to '0' or by changing its Type selection to Milestone.

  • Milestones will only have start dates, as they don't span a time period.
